THE GLADE by Clies Stevens

Picture this if you can

A place in our land

A magical mythical beast

Puts you strangely at peace

Standing there so proud

‘Mongst the forest wind so loud

Listening gently to the sighing wind

I sat to watch as this silver horse

With horn so long

Asked me did I belong

To earths magic force

Out of time before time began

I wondered aloud afraid now

Then gentle beast so proud

Touched my heart with love

And I could see beyond the cloud

To the land where all began

And I knew from the sky above

Like the rain that falls to earth

That love so precious so fine

Could at last be mine?

Then I felt the glow begin

And now the word is love to all

And I shall be no more that man,

That thought no words could heal

‘cept for that fabled beast that healed with love and pierced my heart forever in that glade

clies stevens from the love of my country
